Greggs Matcha: Price, Flavors, Calories & Review (2026)
Greggs matcha is real, it’s cold, and it costs less than most high street rivals. Greggs launched its iced matcha range on 5 February 2026.
If you’ve wondered whether it’s any good, how much it costs, or what’s actually in the cup, this guide covers it. It’s based on Greggs’ own product information plus current menu listings. For the wider range, see our Greggs menu prices page.

Does Greggs sell matcha?
Yes. Greggs added a trio of iced matcha drinks to its Greggs drinks menu in February 2026.
The chain has leaned into the matcha trend UK shoppers have been following for a couple of years, thanks partly to TikTok matcha videos. Greggs says it wants to make a trending favorite “accessible to everyone on the high street.”
Greggs is also now the UK’s largest branded coffee operator by outlet count, so it has a lot of shops to put matcha in front of.
When Did Greggs Matcha Come Out?
The Greggs matcha launch date was Thursday, 5 February 2026. Greggs described the rollout as “selected shops,” while press coverage said nationwide. That means availability can vary. Check the app before you make a special trip.
To mark the launch, Greggs ran a free Pilates pop-up in London called Matcha & Move on 13 and 14 February. Class names included the Sausage Roll-Up and the Yum-Yum Twist. Attendees got a free iced matcha and a sausage roll or vegan roll. It was tongue in cheek, but it fits the brand: wellness meets Greggs.
Greggs Matcha Menu: What Flavours Are There?
The original Greggs matcha menu had three drinks:
- Iced Matcha Latte: matcha green tea and semi-skimmed milk.
- Greggs Vanilla Iced Matcha Latte: the same base with vanilla.
- Greggs Strawberry Iced Matcha Latte: matcha, milk, strawberry syrup, and vanilla syrup, with sugar and sweetener.
Menu trackers now also list a Blueberry Iced Matcha Latte. A pumpkin spice iced matcha latte with salted caramel drizzle has appeared as a seasonal addition.
Greggs Matcha Price
Launch prices, per Greggs’ announcement, were:
| Drink | Launch price |
|---|---|
| Iced Matcha Latte | £3.00 |
| Vanilla Iced Matcha Latte | £3.60 |
| Strawberry Iced Matcha Latte | £3.60 |
Prices have crept up since. A September 2026 menu tracker lists the plain drink at £3.65 and the flavored ones at £4.30.
Another price tracker shows a “standard,” “city/London,” and “franchise/airport” tier for each drink. That’s normal for Greggs. A matcha in a London station will cost more than one on a regional high street.
Tip: the price in your app basket is the one that counts.
Greggs Matcha Calories, Ingredients, and Sugar
Here’s what we know about the Greggs matcha ingredients:
- Matcha green tea
- Semi-skimmed milk
- Flavored syrup: strawberry and vanilla versions only
- Sugar and sweetener strawberry version
A price tracker lists the plain drink at around 150 kcal and the strawberry or vanilla versions at around 190 kcal for a 12 oz cup. Treat those as indicative. Greggs’ own nutrition page is the safest source.
I couldn’t find a clearly published Greggs matcha sugar content figure. If you’re watching Sugar, the plain version is the obvious pick, because the flavored ones add syrup.
Is Greggs Matcha Real Matcha?
Greggs describes it as made with matcha green tea. It doesn’t say whether it’s ceremonial or culinary grade.
Ceremonial matcha is the premium, smoother grade. Culinary matcha is more common in lattes and bakes. At this price, a culinary-style blend is the likely bet, but that’s my inference, not something Greggs has stated.
Greggs Matcha Caffeine Content
Greggs doesn’t appear to publish a caffeine figure for its matcha. Matcha generally has less caffeine than a standard coffee, though it varies by how much powder goes in the cup.
If you’re sensitive to caffeine, ask in store or check Greggs’ allergen and nutrition information.
Greggs Matcha Dairy Free, Oat Milk, and Vegan
Greggs matcha is made with semi-skimmed milk, so the standard drinks are not vegan and not dairy-free. I couldn’t confirm an oat milk option on the matcha range. Check the app or ask staff, as options can change.
If you’re eating vegan at Greggs, our Greggs vegan menu page lists the vegan food options.
Does Greggs Matcha Come Hot?
Not at launch. The range is iced, and Greggs promoted it as a cold drink.
Greggs Matcha vs Starbucks Matcha (and Costa, Pret, Caffè Nero)
I haven’t verified current Starbucks, Costa, Pret, or Caffè Nero matcha prices, so I won’t quote numbers for them.
What I can say is that Greggs has positioned itself as the budget matcha latte option. A third-party price test claims Greggs is the cheapest on the high street.
Specialist matcha chains and big coffee shops are likely to offer more customization, such as plant milks and ceremonial-grade options. Greggs wins on price and convenience.
Greggs Matcha Review: Is It Worth It?
Is Greggs matcha worth it? For most people, yes, with caveats.
What works:
- Low price compared with most coffee chains.
- Easy to find, and you can order ahead.
- Strawberry and vanilla suit people who find plain matcha too grassy.
What doesn’t:
- Milk only (as far as I could confirm).
- Flavoured versions are sweeter and higher in calories.
- Quality will vary a little from shop to shop.
If you want a cheap, quick matcha on the go, it’s a solid option. If you’re a matcha purist, you may prefer a specialist café.
How to Order: App, Click + Collect, and Near You
The easiest way to find a Greggs matcha near me is the Greggs app. You can check stock, order via Click + Collect, and skip the queue.
The app also runs the Greggs rewards app scheme. Hot drinks earn stamps toward a free drink, and there are occasional double stamps promotions. Note that the stamp scheme covers hot drinks, so an iced matcha may not count. Check the terms in the app.
Matcha is also available through delivery apps such as Uber Eats and Just Eat in many areas.
If you want to pair it with food, our Greggs breakfast meal deals page shows current combinations. A sausage roll and matcha is a very Greggs way to do wellness. You can also use the Greggs app guide to see how the stamps work.
Final Thoughts
Greggs matcha isn’t trying to be a specialist café drink. It’s a cheap, cold, easy iced matcha latte that brings the matcha craze to the high street.
The flavored versions are the most popular for a reason, and the plain one is the lighter choice. Check the app for your local price. For more drinks, calories, and deals, see the full Greggs menu.
